WILL YOUR WORK PAY OFF?

I was sitting down thinking of university and how we work so hard. I then started to think about the fact that the lecturer told us that if you did well in your second year and you didn’t do well in your third year, they will use 50% from your second year and third year grade so they can give you a chance to do well. This led me to thinking, in every stage of life, we need to prepare and work as hard as we could, so later on if our strength isn’t enough, or our power isn’t enough, or there’s no clear road ahead, at least we can look back and use what we built to push us up.

We all know Abraham, the father of all nation, the husband of Sarah and the father of Isaac. Abraham was a faithful man. A man that satisfied God and followed his ways all the time. I like Abraham because he set pace for his generation to come. We see some of these celebrities and we see their children and we say to ourselves “this child is set for life” or “this child is one year old and they already have it all”. No matter what their parents have done or is doing, they are setting something for their children. It doesn’t matter if you insult them or anything, they are still set. Abraham’s work for God enabled him to have a covenant with God which Genesis 15:8-21 demonstrated and displayed that his family through God gained fortune. It says: On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, “To your offspring I give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Rephaim, the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Girgashites and the Jebusites.”Wow. How exciting was this for Abraham at this moment.

Today I just want to bring your mind and encourage you that no matter what you do, do it with your strength. You never know the kind of blessing that will come from it. The blessing can set up you and your family and your family to come’s lives forever. I saw a tweet that said “the whole world is obsessed with money” and someone commented “you are making it seem like you can live without money”. I definitely agree that you cannot live without money. But I learnt in Sunday school that money is important but the priorities of the importance matter. Setting up a good foundation is good but remember, put God first and He will add everything else to you (Matthew 6:33).

Be a hard worker, go to places God wants to take you and when you get there, do whatever you’re asked in the name of God and with all your strength. 1 Corinthians 10:31 teaches us that whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. Build your life where you are now. We say we are young and we need to enjoy our youth but the Bible says Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth, before the evil days come and the years draw near of which you will say, “I have no pleasure in them""-Ecclesiastes‬ ‭12:1‬. God loves you. Build up your life now so when you can’t later, you don’t feel disappointed or lost, but instead you will feel like your works in God will work for you. Just as Abraham knew that his family will not struggle when he isn’t around. Work hard because hard work definitely pays off. God bless you.

Prayer: God give us the grace and strength to do everything in our power and in your name, so that our lives will not feel small and wasted. We know that you will not forsake us and that you will see our determination to do right by you. Protect and guide us Lord. This we ask in Jesus name, amen.
