WILL YOUR ANCHOR HOLD IN THE STORMS OF LIFE?

So I was meditating on Proverbs 12:25 “Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad. Then God asked me “will your anchor hold in the storms of life?”. I don't know if you know that song but I started singing the song. Funny enough that’s that only line I know from the song. It then hit me and I started thinking about it so much. “Will my anchor hold in the storms of life?” Okay “anchor”, “storms”, “life”. We know what anchors are right?

‭‭

Anchors are found on ships and its purpose is to prevent the ship for drifting off due to wind. So then the question “what does this mean” happened. Do we need something to prevent us from drifting? Then I started thinking “Sarah do you have your anchor to hold you through life? What keeps you from not drifting? What keeps you from not breaking down in hard times? What keeps you going each day?” Let’s take a moment to reflect on that.

I ended up with the answer that my anchor is heaven, God, His word, my family and friends. How do these things hold me from falling? Anytime I have the thought “why are you trying so hard to believe there is a God? Why are you giving up all these things and focusing on God? The answer is “I’m trying to make it to heaven”. I know that there is heaven and I believe it and I’m doing what I’m doing because I don’t want to miss the chance of getting to heaven. People don’t believe there is heaven but Revelation 7:15-17 describes how there are only peace, joy and praises in Heaven. I am very curious to see this heaven so the thought of that anchors me. I believe in God because I have heard and seen His goodness, and I have faith that He can do more, so that also keeps me from drifting. Let’s say your boss had promised you a promotion and all of a sudden you are going around talking about him and being rude to him and all, I doubt he will still want to give you that promotion. That is how I see it. If God has promised me all of these great things, would I want to play about and lose it? Nope. That is what anchors me. His word. His promises.

If you know me, you know my family and friends means a lot to me. They play an anchoring part in my life with their words of encouragement and their love. We all need someone sort of anchor in our life. Yours can also be your family, friends, colleagues, neighbours, church members, anyone. Because the storms of life are real. We all know how storms are. Storms are violent and they can ruin a lot of things. Don't sit there and be ruined. Instead, be prepared for that storm by getting your anchor ready.

Prayer: God, you are our father and we know you will never forsake us. God as the storms of life is approaching daily, help us in setting our anchors right and straight. May no storms drift us away from your word. May our feet be set firm on the ground in Jesus name, amen.

Appreciation: We thank God for another week. Today is the first day of the last month of the year. Everything that has been going on has been wild but we are in December and we give praise to God. May this month be filled with joy and peace and more blessings.
