Since childhood, I have always loved Cinderella to the point that I’ve watched Cinderella movies that were made in the 1990s. I love the happy ending and the whole structure of it. How she left a slipper and the prince went round searching for her, it’s cute. I was reading the story of a very young dark and handsome man from the Bible and I said “oh wow this is like the Cinderella of the Bible”. This was a story of David, how he was found and anointed. Let me narrate the story and you will see what I mean.
God rejected Saul and asked Samuel to go and find one of Jesse’s sons to anoint as the next king of Israel. Samuel went to Bethlehem to anoint the next king. He saw Eliab, one of Jesse’s son and said “Yes this must be the guy” but God said to Samuel, “Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him” (1 Samuel 16:7 NLT). Seven other sons were presented to Samuel and none of them were the one. Now Samuel asked “Are these all the sons you have?” then Jesse replied “There is still the youngest, but he’s out in the fields watching the sheep and goats.” (1 Samuel 16:11 NLT). Samuel told them to go and get him to come and that they “will not sit down to eat until he arrives”. When David got there, the Lord said, “This is the one; anoint him” (1 Samuel 16:12 NLT). That’s the story of how David was anointed.
If you haven’t watched Cinderella, you wouldn’t understand the similarities between them. After Cinderella had left the ball, the prince had fallen in love with her so he was desperate to find her. They went all over the town to find her. When they got into the house she lived in, she was locked away somewhere (according to some versions, in other versions, she was not presented to try on the glass shoe). The two stepdaughters were presented to try on the shoe but it did not fit them. My recall of most of the Cinderellas I’ve watched, they asked “are you sure these are the only people that lives here” and they found out that Cinderella lives there too and they sent for her to come. After she tries on the shoes, they knew she’s the one.
Today’s blog is to tell you that if God has appointed you or anointed you, you don’t need to be there to be chosen. Once you are chosen, you are chosen. You will be called to come, people will search for you. Your knowledge will be needed, therefore kings will send for you to come. Your talent will be needed, so presidents will come in search of you. David being young, his father probably thought he was not qualified for it, but what the Lord has said is what He will do. The greatness that the Lord has placed inside you will shine when the time is right. You will be selected and nominated to stand on platforms you never thought was possible. You are the Cinderella of your family. People will come to your house and ask for you. The Bible says, Samuel said “we will not sit down to eat until he arrives”. Listen, they will not sit down until you arrive in Jesus name. Your importance shall be known. You are the one. You are the one. You are the one. You will be called in Jesus name. The shoe will fit you because it is your size. It was invented specifically for you. Others will try it on but it will not fit. If God wants you to be the CEO of a company, others will take the role and it will not fit. Until you are called to take your place then everyone, the whole workers and nation will know, yes, it feels right now. You were the one we were looking for. This week, pray that the Lord sends people out to find you. It is your year of being noticed, being called, being chosen. You are the one. May God bless you throughout this week in Jesus name.
Prayer: Our Heavenly Father we thank you for our lives. Lord we pray that as you anointed David, Lord You will anoint us too. May we be called to places we never imagined in Jesus name. We bless your name and thank you once again. In Jesus name, amen.
