PRIORITISE THEN FULFIL

As a student nurse, they teach us that prioritising patients is key. For example, if you have two patients, one is diabetic that needs medication three times a day and one just has a sore that needs bandaging, you need to prioritise the diabetic patient because them missing their medication can escalate their health. Prioritising is just about seeing who needs it more, what is more important, and what needs doing right this moment? Prioritising is a tool that we all need. We sometimes have work to do but we choose to like catch up on that episode first before we do the work. By the time we’re done watching it, we’re not in the mood for the work. I’m very guilty of this. We need to understand it this way, “the show will always be there but the deadline won’t”. We tend to procrastinate everything. Again, I’m very guilty.

But today, we all need to learn how to prioritise.

We need to prioritise God above all things in order to fulfil the promises God has for us. However, if we do not know what is important, how will we prioritise them? For instance, let’s say you are a pastor and you’re too consumed in preparing things to deliver to the church and now you don’t even have time to have a personal time with God, you’ve now prioritised your members over God but you wouldn’t see it as such. I know some will say “But he is doing God’s work so does it all not count?” It counts but your relationship with God is the priority. I read somewhere “don’t be too consumed trying to do the will of God that you won’t be available or get time for God”. God is happy you’re helping people come to him, but you also need to check in with him too in order to keep the relationship going and growing. Everything is important but it’s about the steps in which you go about it.

We need to all go before God and ask “which things are important?”. Let’s look at 1 Corinthians 13:13. It says: “Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.” Do you see it? Even though Paul said faith is important, hope is important, love is important, he went back to emphasise the fact that “love is more important”. Does this simplify what I’m trying to say? No one said faith is not important because as a Christian, we’re taught that faith is essential so it’s not about it being useless, it’s just that love is first. We need to know what to prioritise in our lives in order to fulfil all the promises.

When you prioritise it, you need to execute it. That’s the whole point of prioritising. Your aim is to accomplish it. If you prioritise something but still doing it in a weird unorganised way, how will you achieve any result at the end? The only reason you prioritise is so you know you’re doing everything well and at the right time. Your goal should always be centred around fulfilment. This doesn’t go for just a religious aspect but in our daily lives, we need to prioritise things too. If you have that work, do it before you get caught in that show. If you have to wash your clothes, do it before you step out. If you need to write that song, do it before you jump on Instagram. If you need to cook, do it before laziness kicks in. This is a general thing that we all need to do. Priority is important. Prioritise, prioritise, prioritise and you will see good results.

Prayer: God, help us know what is important and what needs more attention. Help us prioritise everything in order to accomplish them with a better and brighter outcome. We thank you, in Jesus name, amen.

Testimony: We thank God for this month. It’s nearly going to an end and it was by His grace so I give Him all the praise. I hope we all have a lovely day.
