LEAVING EGYPT

This blog was inspired by Reverend Amponsah from his sermon “Run The Race” last week. So straight to the point. Most of us are aware about how the Israelites were in Egypt and they were being mistreated by the Egyptians under the rule of King Pharaoh. God appointed Moses to go and rescue the Israelites and lead them to the promise land. God displayed numerous of miracles in order to rescue His people. But we found out that the Israelites complained a lot when they felt like things were inconvenient for them. But when things are going the way that benefitted them, they were all for God.

We are the Israelites in this story. We are all for the good and positive things, but the negative means God is not God. The Israelites were happy when they were led to the Red Sea. They were happy they were leaving their problems behind. But when they got before the sea and realised there was no way to the other side, they were not happy. The Bible says in Exodus 14:12 that the Israelites said Didn’t we tell you this would happen while we were still in Egypt? We said, ‘Leave us alone! Let us be slaves to the Egyptians. It’s better to be a slave in Egypt than a corpse in the wilderness!’. When God takes us from one issue, we need to understand that if our God has done it once, doing it again is not a problem. If God can take us from our insecurities, getting us a husband or a wife isn’t hard for him. If God can let you finish university, getting you a job is not hard. If God can get you a house, getting you a car is not hard for Him. We need to learn to not be like the Israelites. We need to understand that if God says He is for us, who can stand against us (Romans 8:31). We need to believe and trust in God no matter the circumstances.

When you choose to follow God, you are choosing endurance as well. For the Bible says in Psalms 30:5 “Weeping may last through the night but joy comes in the morning. There is always a light at the end of the tunnel. Do not stop in the middle of the tunnel and lose hope. Keep moving. Keep believing. Sometimes it’s hard to see the light, and we lose hope. Sometimes we even see the light and still not believe it. But God is always God. God does what He says He will do. Do not doubt God in the middle of His work just like the Israelites. The Red Sea is about to divide into two so you can walk through it. Do not think God cannot do it. When He takes you from your Egypt (a time of depression, anxiety, insecurities, failures, loss self esteem), do not let another issue trip you over which will lead you into doubting God. Be grateful when God rescues you. Do not be like the Israelites and wish to be in your Egypt because even though it is bad, you are comfortable in that situation. Do not wish to go back. Forward always. May God bless you this week as He removes you from your Egypt and set you on your way to your promise land.

Prayer: Our Heavenly Father we bless your name. We give you praise and adoration. Father Lord we pray that you rescue us from our Egypt. Any place that is not bringing us joy or development, move us from there. Let us not regret leaving our Egypt but excited about what is ahead. We bless your name God, in Jesus name I pray with thanksgiving, Amen.
