IN OUR MIDST

I was doing this Bible plan with my friend Mariam, and it was talking about the goodness of God and how God is always there no matter the circumstances. The plan said “It’s much like the sun on a cloudy day. We say we can’t see it because it’s hidden behind clouds. But it’s still there”. That’s the same way as God being there when things are good and when things are bad.
Before we get this started, let me draw your mind to how God is always there. God wants us to see His presence everywhere. In the beginning, Adam and Eve were in the garden with God, in Moses’ time there was the pillar of fire and the pillar of cloud. Let’s even skip to the New Testament. We are actually not alone because Jesus came and stayed here on Earth with us, then when He went back to Heaven, we were left with the Holy Spirit who lives in us. God is always here with us. So to think He took a holiday because your life isn’t looking as great is impossible. From the first day He created the world, He has never left our side. I hope that’s understood and agreed.
I’m sharing this because sometimes when things get so difficult, we forget that the goodness of God is still there. Once we accept God as our Lord and Saviour, we start our relationship with him. This reminded me of that line they say during wedding vows…”in sickness and in health”. We need to believe God is with us not only when things are right. In our times of sorrow, God is there. Wedding vows are not said by only one person but both of the couples, therefore this has to be reciprocated too. We need to be for God and with God in our sickness and in our health. No matter the situation, thank God and believe He is good. Job was a great example of giving God praise no matter the circumstances. This man heard that he has lost everything and the Bible says in Job 1:20-21 that “Job arose and tore his robe and shaved his head and fell on the ground and worshiped. And he said, Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord”. He worshipped and blessed the Lord even in his toughest time.
God is in our midst. You need to believe it. Zephaniah 3:17 says that “The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.” When you get a new house, God is there and give glory to Him. The same way as when you lose your job, still give glory to Him for His goodness. Today might look impossible but tomorrow’s possible. You can only see today, not tomorrow. Keep your hopes up. Keep your faith up. Believe in God. “Delight yourself in the Lord and he shall give you the desires of your heart” (Psalm 37:4). May God bless you as He also increases you.
Prayer: Our Heavenly Father we thank you today. We thank you for the air we breathe and for your grace. Lord today we pray that you give us the strength and power to always see the goodness of God in our lives no matter the circumstances. We bless your name in Jesus name, amen.
