2022: WE ARE COMING OUT LO-DEBAR

(2 Samuel 9:1-4)

Last day of 2021. Wow, I must say this year I have learnt so much and I just want to give glory to God. God is good…all the time! Before we start, just take a minute to thank God for His goodness. I always say this, if God hasn’t done anything for you, He has given you life which is the greatest gift so give Him praise.

Today’s blog is a story I read this year and I loved so much. It is a story of a guy called Mephibosheth. This guy was the son of Jonathan. David wanted to show kindness to someone from the house of Saul and so Ziba, one of Saul’s servant was called to come before the king. So David asked “Is there not still someone of the house of Saul, that I may show the kindness of God to him?” Ziba said to the king, “There is still a son of Jonathan;”‭‭ (2 Samuel‬ ‭9:3‬). When David asked where he was, Ziba responded “He is in the house of Machir the son of Ammiel, at Lo-debar” (2 Samuel‬ ‭9:4‬). When reading this I was stuck on the word “Lo-debar” so I did my research. According to Google, the word “Lo debar” means “no pasture, nothing”. “Lo“ means “no“ and “debar” means “thing” so “Lo-debar” was a place of nothing.

Mephibosheth was royalty so how did he find himself in a place of nothing? Was his place not in a palace, being served and living his best life? When you read 2 Samuel 4:1-4, we find out that Mephibosheth has been through a lot since he was five, which led to his arrival at Lo-debar. Sometimes we think, if my Father the Lord is the King, if He is who He says He is, why am I struggling? Why am I going through all of this? 2021 might have been the year we thought we’d prosper but we found ourselves in a town called Lo-debar. A place of nothing. Everything we did didn’t prosper. Everything we wanted never came. But in 2022, I pray that every single person that’s reading this, will come out of Lo-debar in Jesus name. May the Lord take you out and set you on His table just as David took Mephibosheth out in Jesus name. Anyone that has forgotten about you, any destiny helpers, any university applications, any job applications, as we pray today, we pray for the spirit of remembrance in Jesus name. We were not born to be hidden, but we were born to be set on mountains, for our lights to shine. This day, I pray that may the Almighty God place you above the nation in Jesus name. May you be the head and not the tail in Jesus name. May favour follow you! May grace follow you in Jesus name. 2022 is your year of testimony in Jesus name. We are coming out of Lo-Debar in Jesus name. May we step into green pastures O Lord. We thank you and we bless your name Lord. This we ask in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, amen.
